The Mount Wedding Venue | Edith Wharton's Home | Julie + Michael
… what are TB Couples saying …
The Mount Wedding Venue
Hi there,
The Mount Wedding Venue in Lenox, Massachusetts is picturesque in every way. Also known as Edith Wharton’s home, it spans 50 acres with spectacular gardens and an elegant interior of the historic mansion. When Julie and Michael stepped foot at The Mount Wedding Venue, despite the pouring down rain, they knew this was where they wanted to get married. Everything about it felt like a fairytale. After having postponed their wedding due to Covid-19, they ultimately decided to hire a planner and replan a very intimate micro wedding. The French and Italian Gardens were breathtaking and the terrace overlooking the property was perfect for a small event.
Whimsical Dress + Bella Belle Shoes
The day started out beautiful and sunny, until out of nowhere, thunderstorms rolled in. But, Julie was determined not to let the rain and thunderstorm get in the way of her wedding day. Instead, she focused on marrying the man of her dreams. When she stepped into her dress, she was a vision! Julie’s dress was just what she had always wanted: a romantic and whimsical look with the blush underlay and delicate lace. With the dramatic cathedral veil with matching lace and her Bella Belle lace wedding shoes Julie felt like a princess! She shared that when she first tried this dress on, she teared up because she felt so beautiful. That is when you know you have found your wedding gown!
Getting Ready at Wyndhurst Manor & Club
Julie incorporated many sentimental details into her big day. She had a blur angel charm on her bouquet as her something blue, a gift from her mom. It represented being watched over as she walked down the aisle. She and Michael gave each other custom handkerchiefs Julie’s second grade students made a marriage advice book filled with funny and sweet pieces of advice. With their besties by their side, they had a joy filled morning getting ready. Julie shared an emotional first look with her father that I know she will always remember.
The First Look
Julie and Michael choose to do a first look! Always one of my favorite moments at a wedding. The entire morning and afternoon all they wanted to do was see each other, but it was totally worth the wait! The second they saw one another in the Italian Garden, all of Julie’s nerves disappeared. A sense of peace and calmness filled the air. So much that Julie even forgot about the rain. This was one of their favorite parts of the day. Michael couldn’t wait to see Julie and he almost turned around too quickly before he was supposed to because he was so excited. Michael said it felt like the morning took forever as had been waiting for this moment for so long. He was mesmerized by Julie’s beauty! These are special moments that will never be forgotten.
The Mount Wedding Venue Ceremony
Before the ceremony, Michael and Julie spent a few private moments together reading the love letters they wrote to each other. It gave them such peace and serenity. Exchanging vows was one of Julie and Michael’s favorite moments from their wedding day. Together with their officiant, they wrote their own vows. They created an interfaith ceremony that combined many traditions from both sides of their families. This included lighting of the unity candle, drinking of the Kiddush cup, the communal reading of the Apache prayer, and the breaking of the glass. The Kiddish cup used in the ceremony was a Jewish tradition. It belonged to Michael’s father and he has had since he was a young boy. Michael’s mom bought the breaking glass used in the ceremony that will being turned into a vase.
The Reception
This elegant reception was luxurious and refined. Shades of blush, white and cream with delicate gold details and greenery filled the room. Julie and Michael created one long table for dinner that was decorated with lush flowers and romantic details including lots and lots of candlelight, texture in linens, pink goblets, and the most special, personalized menus and place cards for guests. Julie loved picking out each detail to create the perfect look. Guests were greeted with lavender mint lemonade. And their signature drink was Parker’s French 75 served in a coupe glass.
They couldn’t let the day go by without incorporating their dog Parker! Parker was pictured on the napkins and bar sign! Their favors were five candied covered almonds, an Italian tradition. The silk and lace favor bags were from Italy along with the custom blessing on the tag. These items were a tribute to Julie’s Italian heritage.
Toasts were made, dinner was served, and guests danced the night away! This lovely evening ended with a song by Louis Armstrong, What a Wonderful World. It was the song Julie’s parents shared their first dance at their own wedding years ago.
