5 Reasons every couple should do a first look

You are in the wedding planning face and you wonder … should I add a first look to our wedding timeline?
Don’t worry I am here to guide you and give you as much information as you need to help you with all your wedding questions and decisions.
What is a first look, you might ask yourself? A first look is simply an intimate moment the bride and groom share before the big celebration starts on your wedding day. This is an exciting moment where the beautiful bride surprises the groom and showcases her stunning look and the gorgeous wedding dress. This is the time to capture reactions, excitement and emotion. It is a time just for the bride and groom where they share an alone time in such a busy day.
Every couple should always add a first look to their wedding itinerary. Over the years photographing weddings I’ve collected many reasons why and here are my top five.
Get that alone time just before the big day starts.
The first look will most likely be the only alone time the bride and groom will have. This is the perfect opportunity to share an intimate time cherishing the love, happiness and excitement the day is about to unfold.
2. You will look your best.
We will schedule your first look just after your getting ready photos so your makeup and hair will be fresh. This is the best time to capture bride and groom portraits. You will feel the most confident and beautiful and this will translate in the photographs.
3. We will capture all the must have photos before ceremony starts.
Having a first look will allow you to have enough time for all the photos you want and need. Couples photos are super important to my clients and I always suggest to have the right amount of time to capture such important portraits. After the first look we will capture bridal and family portraits so all the must have photos will be captured before the ceremony starts.
4. More time equals Quality and Quantity photos.
Creating and capturing beautiful photographs requires a small investment of time. Doing a First Look will make your day calm and joyful as you won’t be rushing to capture the memories of your wedding in a short limited amount of time. It is important to enjoy every part of your day and to be in the moment as your wedding day will pass by as fast as a blink of an eye.
5. Enjoy cocktail hour and reception.
You plan your wedding for months so when the day arrives it is important you enjoy every second of it.
The first look will allow you to capture all the photos before the ceremony so you can enjoy your cocktail hour and reception. This time is so important to many couples since it is the time to see and greed so many friends and family.
So … my advice to you is … do not budget your timeline and make sure you have enough time to capture every moment of the day! You spend so many months doing research, learning about the process and making tough decisions. Having a First Look on your wedding day will most definitely help appreciate every moment of the day without rushing through the so wished celebration!
